Sorry guys, between our FB page, work and thinking up these excuses, how could you expect regular posts? (Sigh!)
Just kidding! Wont make any promises for daily blogs, there's just not enough happening yet. But eventually we hope to keep you as much up to date as possible via the Blog. Please try and encourage cousins to sign up a gmail account (or yahoo even) to get access to the blog.
As you may have noted on our FB page there's been a lot of votes for August 2012. But still not any specific dates.
Dates raised so far are as follows:
Week Beginning 09 July 2012
" " 16 July 2012
Week Beginning 30 July 2012
" " 06 August 2012
The only issue (thus far) with August timing is for family in New Zealand and Australia (and elsewhere
in the Pacific) considering bringing their children as most schools would be mid-term.
Of course the solution is to not bring children, however, it is entirely a personal choice.
We've also had a bit of discussion round as to how long which is obviously a "serious consideration" ie. costs money = serious consideration. There are two options raised so far:
3 days (A Monday to Wednesday Event)
6 days (A Friday Wednesday Event)
So... a lot to consider but lets get the nitty-gritty of dates and length decided and move forward to saving some $$$ (and for those of us hosting in Samoa - talking about some fund-raising).
Ia, talanoa mai...
Over and Out! M
Bad blogger no more! He he..OK, plodding along..am being a bad reader as well. Kele le kiai aoga.
ReplyDeleteI think after several chats with Irene via phone and exchanges with some of her crew via FB..it appears that they ALL want August. For my lil' crew (our fam) we have no problem with August with the exception of Chris( poor guy) who prefers July instead of August because it's football season..bla bla..lol. Well, he has no choice because Pue is the boss and of course Pue agrees with me, always!. Hah!.
But now realizing that August can be a concern for NZ and Australia...I hope we can all reach an agreement and somewhat sacrifice school days for the reunion (Gawsh..what a bad teacher I am but it's only way)..US schools usually resume on 3rd week of August after summer break, so many of us parents here are willing to excuse our kids from school for at least 2 weeks, so we can make a reunion possible. And on that note - does the 3rd or the last week of August make any difference for our cousins in NZ and AUS? If a push comes to a shove..perhaps we can compromise on first week of Sept.?
RE: Length/Time Reunion
ReplyDeleteI think once we get an approximate numbers on those attending plus some quotes on major necessities (food, drinks, venues, caterers, vendors, chefs, etc. -to be discussed ) then we can get a an idea of a budget and then next to discussing and formulating our program.
I am leaning towards a 3-day program since it's our first one and therefore we should keep in mind that money does play a major role in operating a reunion - and we don't want too place too much of a strain on one's wallet, a ea? Ha ha. Majority of us are travelling to Samoa (major expenses already) so we want to keep it minor. Lets find a middle ground and then pull our resources together (family effort) to make our first reunion a blast. We shall keep it simple, light, and fun for everyone. xox
Thanks ladies, I also lean towards a 3-day program, August 2012, either the beginning or the end is good (possibly the wed-fri option).
